The Star Wars Battlefront II (SWBFII) community is patiently waiting for further game updates. Up to now, we’ve seen tidbits of information from developers or community managers. This situation, of course, is fueling speculation about the game and its upcoming content.  We’ve seen some very interesting discussions over the last couple of weeks around the topic.

Until we have something official, we can search the internet for other interesting pieces of information about the game. One that caught our attention was Concept Art World’s recent feature story about Joseph McLamb. He worked as a concept artist for SWBFII and has some interesting art to showcase.

SWBFII Concept Art by Joseph McLamb

Most of the art found in McLamb’s portfolio are maps that you have already seen in the game. For example,  they showcase many locations from  Naboo and Death Star. The art is superb to look at and one of the more interesting things to see is how it evolved from concept to the final version.

Another very interesting aspect deals with items that eventually got left out of the game. That’s certainly the case with the image below and Theed’s Royal library. The image reminds us the original SWBFII developed by Pandemic. More specifically the library that is shown at Coruscant level of that particular game. It’s not the first time that the library appears in a game. Back in 2000, it first appeared in the game Star Wars Episode I, Jedi Power Battles.

The backstory of the Theed’s Royal Library also fits the events taking place in the game. According to Star Wars lore, it was turned into a droid war room during the Separatist invasion of Theed. During the events of Episode I, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn, fought their way through the library in an attempt to liberate Queen Amidala. Eventually, they succeeded in their mission and managed to get the Queen off-world.

Obviously, it wasn’t long after fans started speculating whether we will see the library as a map in the game. Their eagerness is justified up to a certain extent since we don’t have any announcements. We’re not sure if this ever makes it into the game but it’s an interesting possibility.
