This page covers all Star Wars Battlefront Star Cards found in the game, arranged by Tiers. It attempts to answer the question of which are the most useful cards in the game using a tier system. Tiers are used to describe, the usability of cards across multiple maps and game modes (i.e. the lower the tier number is, the more useful the card is).

  • Tier 1 covers the cards that can be used in pretty much every map and game mode.
  • Tier 2 covers more specialized cards that could be more suited to specific maps and game modes.
  • Tier 3 covers rare cards – the ones that have somewhat limited uses -or- are surpassed by other cards found in Tier 1 and Tier 2.

JUMP PACK

Probably the most popular star card in Star Wars Battlefront since it allows their user to cover distances fast, get out of trouble equally fast or reach locations not normally accessible without it

BACTA BOMB

The Bacta Bomb is another extremely popular card since it increases the user’s health or replenishes their depleted health pretty fast. If you get shot at a lot, the bacta bomb can save your life.

PERSONAL SHIELD

The personal shield is the type of card one would want to use when getting into a lot of trouble or has the habit of storming into areas with a lot of enemy units. Note though that once activated, you can’t use your primary weapon.

SCATTER GUN

The scatter gun is the solution to all those pesky personal shield users since it can shoot through their shields. In addition, its two-shot ability allows for their users to effectively one-shot incoming enemies.

PULSE CANNON

The pulse cannon used to be the choice of aspiring snipers in medium to large maps. As their users got better, it started making its appearance in smaller maps as well, since a well-placed shot can instantly take down an incoming enemy.

ADRENALINE STIM

The adrenaline stim is yet another card that is favored by people who ran into trouble very frequently or want to replenish their health rapidly. In addition, it’s the only card that can break a shock grenade’s paralyzing effect.

THERMAL DETONATOR

Thermal detonators are easy to use and can kill multiple enemy units at once or, at a minimum, cause significant damage. Its ease-of-use is also another reason why so many people choose to use it – just throw it and let the explosion do the rest!

BARRAGE

Barrage is yet another card that can be used as a deterrent when dealing with a lot of enemy units or when trying to secure an area around an objective. Even though a single grenade from barrage might pack the punch of a detonator, it is enough for pushing enemy units back.

FOCUS FIRE

Focus fire is one of these cards that when combined with a high damage weapon, can create deadly damage. You will see it being used with the CA-87 shock blaster in a plethora of maps and situations.

COOLING CELL

Do you tend to overheat your weapon frequently? Are you using a high power that overheats right away? Then cooling cell is the answer. This star card is favored by snipers using the DLT-19X and people who want to beat those annoying disruption users.

BOWCASTER

The Bowcaster is the weapon of choice of walking carpets (i.e. Wookies) everywhere, and for a good reason. It’s very powerful, easy to use and at close quarters a fully charged shot can be deadly. Normally paired with the jump pack card which gives “death from above” a new meaning.

EXPLOSIVE SHOT

The explosive shot increases the damage output of weapons and is normally paired with the berserker trait for maximum effect. It’s also a nice addition when trying to take down targets at a distance since it gives the weapon that little extra in terms of damage.

DIOXIS GRENADE

The dioxis grenade is a great star card when trying to prevent a large number of enemy units from overtaking a location with an objective. More effective in close quarter maps and choke points since its long sustainable damage effect will keep even the most aggressive attackers at bay.

FLASH GRENADE

Flash grenades are not a frequent sight in the Battlefield but when used in close quarters, they blind enemy units and give an advantage to their users. One side-effect of using it, is that flash grenade operators are not immune its blinding effects which also explains why not a lot of people use it.

ION TORPEDO

Ion torpedos are one of the most effective weapons to use against vehicles in Battlefront. They lock into their target,  fly towards it and explode causing great damage. You will primarily see them used in vehicle maps (Walker assault, supremacy, turning point, etc) but almost never in smaller game modes like cargo, blast and others (hence the Tier 2 designation).

ION GRENADE

Like the ion torpedo, the Ion Grenade is used primarily against vehicles and can be also used against personal shield users since it can disable them. While this second characteristic makes it more usable in a greater number of situations, the scatter gun still remains the weapon of choice for dealing with shields. A more rare use for the Ion Grenade is against personnel, however, it does need to be well aimed and can only one enemy at a time.

ION SHOT

Another anti-vehicle/shield-specific card that allows its operator to quickly take down turrets, personal or squad shields in addition to increasing the damage output of weapons to vehicles. Great addition to any weapon when playing vehicle maps, however, it has limited uses in other maps.

STINGER PISTOL

The stinger pistol inflicts its targets with poison that has a lasting effect on them long after its projectile makes contact. It also penetrates personal and squad shields but doesn’t have the one-shot kill ability of the scatter gun. While the card is active, the weapon will not overheat which means that you can continue firing until the card time usage time is up. The main drawback of the stinger is that damage output is relatively low as compared to other weapons which make it more suitable for “fire and forget” situations.

CYCLER RIFLE

The Cycler Rifle is the second sniper rifle star card found in the game (Pulse Cannon being the first). It’s the weapon of choice of Tusken Raiders so you know it’s a crude weapon that can be effective in certain circumstances. Its projectiles can penetrate shields but its range is somewhat lacking when shooting long range targets. That’s also one of the reasons why the pulse cannon is so popular.

SMOKE GRENADE

The Smoke Grenade is a star card that can be very effective when combined with certain types of cards and weapons. When used it emits a smoke cloud that blinds the visibility of enemy units and prevents turrets / homing missiles from locking to their targets. When used Scan Pulse and the X-8 night sniper, its operator can pick out enemies through the smoke, however, this tactic is effective when dealing with choke points or close quarter maps.

LASER TRIP MINE

The Laser trip mine is a handy weapon when dealing with narrow corridors and small rooms since it can be used as a preventive measure for incoming enemies. When placed, it scrambles the radars of opponents which (unfortunately) also serves as a warning to them. In certain situations, it can be effective especially when a careless enemy runs into it but its uses are somewhat limited.

SCAN PULSE

The Scan Pulse star card radar almost feel like a cheat since when activated, it reveals enemy unit locations that under normal circumstances can’t be seen because of cover or obstacles. It’s also a great card to use when you want to see past smoke grenades and (to a lesser extent) dioxis grenades. While scan pulse is great for close quarter maps, its range is somewhat limited for bigger maps.

SHOCK GRENADE

The Shock Grenade star card can be used effectively for immobilizing a single or multiple enemy units which make it extremely useful when dealing with a “1 vs. many” situation. The downside of shock grenades is that they can inadvertently stun their users if they don’t take adequate cover. Their effectiveness is somewhat limited when dealing with larger maps but they’re extremely powerful in small/medium maps.

SCOUT BINOCULARS

Scout binoculars can be used to spot enemy units at a distance and make them visible to teammates as well as their operator. They address the main downside of the scan pulse star card  – limited range. They can have some use in larger maps, but normally their use is rare.

ION NEUTRALIZER

The Ion Neutralizer star card can be used to stop vehicles from moving for a few seconds, as well as deal some limited damage to them. In addition, it can be used to deal damage against turrets and droids. Its use is rare at best since ion torpedos, ion shots and ion grenades are the star cards of preference for dealing with vehicles.

SONIC IMPLODER

The Sonic Imploder star card is one of the tougher cards to unlock since it there is a level of difficulty tied to its unlock requirements – getting kills with impact grenades (Level 1) and getting kills with the sonic imploder itself (Level 2). Even when it’s finally unlocked, it is rather difficult getting kills with it because it requires enemy units to have their health compromised. When thrown it affects the health of enemy units and it could give some advantage to its user.

DISRPUPTION

When disruption is activated, it overheats enemy weapons but its users can’t run and they also emit sparks notifying enemy units in the vicinity. Because of these limitations, it can’t be used to run away from enemies and the additional visibility makes disruption users a prime target for all enemy units.

MEDICAL DROID

Medical droids can be deployed at specific locations and heal friendly units as well as their user. While this is useful it requires you and your teammates to sit right next to it in order to heal something that can be also accomplished by using a bacta bomb. For that reason, you will normally find more bacta bomb users than medical droid users.

HOMING SHOT

Homing shots used to be one of the more frequently used weapons in Battlefront. They lock into their target and fire a missile towards it dealing a devastating blow. They still do that, however, the time required to lock has been increased significantly. Since during the “lock-on” phase the target gets a warning it became easy for opponents to take cover before the homing shot launches.

SCOUT PISTOL

Scout pistols can be effectively used in close quarters and deal significant damage, however, their use has been somewhat limited because of the scatter gun its similar two-shot pattern. The scout pistol can be effectively used in conjunction with grenades since it can remain drawn while at the same time throwing grenades towards a target.

IMPACT GRENADE

The Impact grenade card is another weapon that was significantly nerfed since the game launched. They can still generate a lot of damage but require their users to aim properly and be in relatively close range to their target. Most will pick thermal detonators or barrage because of their ease of use as well as the fact that you can effectively kill more enemies with only one shot.
