To say that Patch 1.2 was a “hero tweak” patch is an understatement. The majority of heroes receives major or minor tweaks based on community feedback. For the most part, the changes received positive feedback. After all, Heroes vs. Villains is one of the most popular modes of Star Wars Battlefront II (SWBFII). This led us to wonder if hero popularity changed since the patch went live. You might remember that right before 1.2 deployed, Emperor Palpatine was probably one of the top choices so was Chewbacca. He was also one of the first heroes to get nerfed.

Taking a closer look
With Boba Fett getting buffed significantly, fans showed a strong preference to the Mandalorian hero. Patch 1.2 gave him a stronger jetpack and better weapon functionality. Fans clearly appreciated the changes and showed their appreciation by voting for him.
Darth Vader came in a close second. According to DICE patch, 1.2 changes were aimed at making the dark lord feel “tankier”. While his health was reduced, they changes were clearly welcomed by the community. Vader’s son, Luke Skywalker, also got some love from both developers and fans. The patch allowed Luke to sprint faster as well as get some buffs to his health.
On the flip side, Palpatine and Chewbacca found themselves towards the bottom of the poll. This could also be a side reaction to their previous overpowered abilities. DICE performed a series of nerfs to both characters, something that dropped their popularity significantly. While our personal experience is not representative of community preferences as a whole, we still come across the Emperor as a hero at matches every now and then. On the other hand, we rarely see Chewbacca.
We’re more than certain that DICE will continue tweaking with heroes in addition to incorporating others into the game. As the studio indicated at launch, change will be constant. After all, this is needed for balancing the game accordingly as new content gets introduced.
Last but not least, we would like to take the time to thank you all for taking the time to vote in our poll!
